- LSU Lady Tigers won their first NCAA title by defeating the Iowa Hawkeyes 102-85 in the championship game on April 3, 2023. LSU’s star guard, Aaliyah Edwards, was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four after scoring 28 points, grabbing 10 rebounds, and dishing out six assists in the final game1.
- Iowa Hawkeyes reached their first Final Four since 1993, led by the nation’s leading scorer, Caitlin Clark. Clark averaged 27.5 points, 7.1 assists, and 6.3 rebounds per game in the season, and scored 35 points in the semifinal loss to LSU2.
- Stanford Cardinal, the defending champions, had a remarkable run in the tournament, winning four games by a single point, including a buzzer-beater by Haley Jones in the Elite Eight against South Carolina. Stanford fell short in the semifinal against Iowa, losing 86-84 in overtime.
